Be in(dy)spired……..by the Indies themselves.

This cake was designed for the November Unveiled Wedding Event.

This most recent cake was for, you guessed it, a Scorpio. We made the cake red velvet, her favorite flavor, and then matched the design to the cakes pretty red color. Both 2 and 3-dimensional, the design was definitely eye-catching.

Linda and I met well over a decade ago when she referred me to her husband’s accounting firm. He’s been my accountant ever since. She called me a few weeks ago t order a baby shower cake for a friend.  They are expecting twin girls and that popular saying “Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice, That’s What Little Girls are Made of ” is stenciled on the nursery wall. The cake was to be a surprise so to add that little extra piece by repeating the saying made it even better. My favorite part was the cheerios spilling out of the tupperware container.

It was decided that to save costs on delivery, the cake would be picked up and driven to Wisconsin by a friend of the couple. That meant the cake needed to be very stable and the gumpaste flowers able to travel without being damaged.
The flowers and berries were botanically correct in 3 shades of green from the sample image she sent me. I gave the cake a little shimmy and bump before boxing to be certain nothing would knock together or rattle in travel.

A fairly small party as carved cakes go, this slender creation is only to feed 15. There’s always something that ends up being my favorite detail. Today it’s Alice falling into the rabbit hole and Cheshire Cat.

Honestly, I had never heard of Ciroq vodka much less the Red Berry Ciroq until Monique called to ask if I could make a cake to mimi the bottle. Now I”ll have to try it in it’s original, Red Berry or Coconut variety.

I think I captured the sleek, contemporary look of this high end vodka. Looks drinkable to me.

They decided to have a buffet of cake and miniatures to maximize their ability to mix and match a large of flavors instead of being restricted to just two or three as they might have been with a tiered cake.

Cara from Le Petite Fleur and her assistant Jessica did their usual magic with flowers and props appropriate for a nature focused celebration. I know that Cara’s photos will showcase her work, but I am still adding a shot of one of her table arrangements so you get just a hint of her talent.

The entire wedding party did, come to mention it.

It was a perfect fall day for a Halloween wedding at the Wabasha Street Caves. Already atmospheric and perfect for a themed event, Halloween music playing throughout the Caves in preparation of the ceremony and reception later acted as a background to my delivery yesterday. The cake went on the table next to the candy buffet where guests would later be encouraged to fill themed cello bags with sweet loot.

Nicole was an easy bride to work with I have to say, bringing in a pile of cake images to help explain her idea about color and style. Since we were working with Halloween as the event date, giving a nod to Corpse Bride was a no brainer. The colors were bone white(get it, “bone” white?), blood red and black with a subtle play of luster dusts to add depth and age to the corset layers and fondant roses in her topper.
